Applications will be received at any time and for as long as places are available. We encourage applicants to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
For those seeking entry into the Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Counselling programmes only, the early-bird application date is the end of the second week of October. Eligible applications received by this date are guaranteed an interview and will be informed of the outcome at or shortly after the interview. Any applicants interviewed and put on our standby list will be advised of their acceptance or otherwise by the end of October. Applications for remaining places (if available) will be accepted until the intake is full.
An information morning will be held Saturday 19th November for anyone interested in finding out more about BTI's programmes. This is also a great chance for people to be able to meet some of the teaching staff.
If you are interested in attending or would like to find out more information, please email reception@bti.ac.nz or phone us on 07 579 1702.
In determining eligibility for entry, BTI uses a system of multiple entry criteria:
  • potential ability to achieve academically
  • prior academic and professional experience, and qualifications
  • character qualities, including a call to the field of interest and an empathy with the objectives of BTI
  • personal suitability for the vocation
Please see Teacher Education and Counsellor Education programme information PDF brochures for programme specific entry requirements.
Applicants should have empathy with the Christian ethos of BTI, which aims to help students develop a Christian perspective on life and their field of work. Students should have qualities such as personal integrity, diligence and teachability, together with those outlined in the character references. Applicants will be required to grant permission to the Department of Courts to release any information concerning criminal convictions.
At the end of the first full year of study, all students enrolled in a three year programme are required to undergo a re-selection process related to the original multiple entry criteria. On re-selection, students proceed to the next stage of their programme.ima
