Secondary Teacher Education Stakeholder FeedbackDuring a recent NZQA Monitor's visit, feedback from stakeholders, including schools, associate teachers, students and staff included:
Host School Tutoring: “There is some evidence that the host school experience is leading to the BTI students gaining full-time employment in their host schools upon graduation.” e-Learning / Online learning: “All students are very happy with this aspect and all felt very competent in their use of e-learning tools in their teaching. They recognised their strengths in comparison to other student teachers from other institutions while on teaching practicums” Practicum: “The BTI lecturing staff and contract staff have continued to visit all of the students throughout the country. The students noted the greater lengths of time lecturers spent with them when compared to that of other institutions.” Graduate Survey: “Following their 2011 graduation, BTI undertook a graduate student survey. Overall, 92% of the graduate students surveyed rated their level of satisfaction of the programme as being good or very good. 91% felt that the programme was either helpful or very helpful in preparing them for their teaching roles. Of the graduates surveyed, 68% were in full time teaching roles and 32% in part-time teaching roles. Overall, 91% were feeling positive or very positive about BTI and their choice of teacher preparation.” Conclusions: "The BTI programme continues to be at the leading edge in many ways, most notably because of its leadership team, dedicated staff, nurturing environment, and e-learning platform. The leadership team and staff are constantly monitoring and adjusting the programme to meet the needs of the student body.” For more information on BTI's Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) qualification, contact us. |
